Dear Friend,
Another federal government shutdown looks to be a real possibility next week. The Trump administration and Congressional Republicans' summer budget bill’s massive cuts to Medicaid already forced many rural hospitals and clinics from Virginia to Georgia to Nebraska to New Mexico to close. Republicans have guaranteed the largest increases to the cost of health insurance in years.
Republicans have a chance to fix part of the problem in the upcoming budget bill. Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits expire at the end of this year and now is the time to extend those credits. If Republicans don’t, millions of enrollees will have to pay more. Without an extension of this valuable credit, premiums could increase by as much as 75% for families nationwide.
The bottom line is: Republicans have created a health care crisis with 15 million Americans set to lose their coverage and Affordable Care Act premiums are set to skyrocket for many on November 1st when open enrollment starts.
I am pushing Congress to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits to prevent your health insurance costs from skyrocketing but I need your stories.
Whether it is higher premiums, lack of health care access, a clinic closing in your community, or high medical bills, please tell us your health care story. We will keep all of your personal information private.
