John, the politics as usual playbook won’t cut it for Montana Democrats anymore.

I’m Shannon O’Brien, and as the new Chair of the Montana Democratic Party, I’m ready to make some changes.

This isn’t up for debate: Everyday Montanans overwhelmingly oppose the Montana GOP’s top priorities: Tax giveaways for millionaires, price-hiking tariffs, politics in our courtrooms, you name it — Montanans are against it.

But John, you don’t earn voters’ trust by positioning your party as the lesser of two evils. As Democrats, we can’t just be known as the party that opposes Republicans. We have to lay out our own vision to families across the state. My vision?

Under Democratic leadership, we can turn Montana into a state where every hard-working person has the opportunity to raise a family, own a home, and live their American dream.

But in order to build that future, we need to shake things up here at MDP — and that’s what I intend to do. If you’re with me, and you’re ready to help build a stronger, safer, more prosperous Montana, will you chip in a grassroots donation to support our party today?

For decades, the Democratic Party has been losing voters here in Montana and across the country, while just hoping that those trends would magically reverse out of thin air.

That’s not going to happen under my leadership.

I truly believe that when everyday Montanans hear about what Democrats stand for, we can earn their trust — and their votes. But that means we have to reject the politics that led us to defeat last year.

Instead, we need to be just as proactive as the Republican Party on changing things. Last year, Democrats across the country ran on protecting government institutions from Donald Trump. But John, those institutions are broken. So when Montanans were given the choice between protecting the status quo and smashing it to pieces, well… we all know what happened.

But today, Montanans across the state are waking up to the fact that Donald Trump and the Republican Party haven’t changed the status quo. Costs are still skyrocketing. Rural hospitals are struggling. And billionaires and big corporations have more influence than ever before.

That means Montana Democrats have a golden opportunity next year to spell out a new agenda for our state and win back thousands of the voters we’ve lost over the years.

But in order to get that message out throughout Montana, it requires resources plain and simple.
