John,
As you may have heard, House Republicans recently advanced a continuing resolution to keep the government funded, but failed to address critical issues affecting our communities.
I want to share with you why I voted NO on this resolution.
First and foremost, this proposal did nothing to address my concerns about affordable health care. Our families should not have to choose between putting food on the table and visiting the doctor. Affordable health care is a right, not a privilege, and I will continue to fight for the coverage every American deserves.
Furthermore, the resolution neglected to address the gaps in funding for nutrition assistance. In Connecticut’s Fifth District, too many families depend on these essential services. It's unacceptable to leave them without the assurance of support as they strive to make ends meet.
Perhaps most concerning of all, the GOP indicated that they might not adhere to their own resolution. Empty promises won't keep our government running or provide the stability our economy needs. We must demand accountability and ensure that any budgeting process puts the needs of the people first.
For all these reasons, I stand with my House Democratic colleagues in fighting for a fair budget — a budget that keeps the government open and prioritizes the well-being of every citizen.
As the end of the quarter approaches, your support is more crucial than ever to show the GOP that we're united and determined to push for change.
Your contribution will help us report a strong, people-powered fundraising report. Can I count on you to stand with me in this fight? [[link removed]]
