VIDEO OF THE DAY: South Park destroys Trump and FCC Chair Brendan Carr
If the goal of Donald Trump and FCC Chair Brendan Carr was to squash dissent by forcing Jimmy Kimmel off the air, that plan has officially and unequivocally backfired — like a case of explosive diarrhea. Brace yourselves and roll the tape!
James Comey defiant in wake of Trump DOJ's indictment announcement: "I'm not afraid" The wannabe dictator's ongoing revenge campaign against political enemies both real and perceived reached historic new heights yesterday with the formal indictment of ex-FBI Director James Comey. Attorney General Pam Bondi bowed to intense public pressure from the president, installing MAGA loyalist Lindsey Halligan, a former Trump personal attorney with no prosecutorial experience, as acting US attorney. Halligan promptly slapped Comey with one count of making a false statement to Congress and one count of obstruction of a congressional proceeding, despite prosecutors who previously worked the case concluding there was not sufficient evidence or probable cause to indict or convict. While Donald was publicly dunking on Comey on social media, the former FBI head released a defiant video statement of his own, proclaiming, "My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump, but we couldn’t imagine ourselves living any other way. We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either. Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant, and she’s right. But I’m not afraid, and I hope you’re not either. I hope instead you are engaged. You are paying attention. And you will vote like your beloved country depends upon it, which it does."

Shortages force Gaza women to suffer humiliation and discomfort
USA for UNFPA: 700,000 women and girls of menstruating age live in Gaza, including thousands experiencing their first period under bombardment and in filthy, cramped displacement camps with no chance of changing in privacy. 10 million sanitary pads are needed every month, but less than a quarter of that is available to ease the indignity and discomfort of Gazan women. The United Nations Sexual and Reproductive Health Agency (UNFPA) is leading a drive to provide 2,500 Dignity Kits to women and girls in Gaza, making sure they have menstrual products, soap, toothbrushes, and clean clothing so women in Gaza, the West Bank, and in crisis regions around the world can maintain their dignity and hygiene, even in the darkest of times. Each kit costs just $15 to produce! Will you chip in to help ease the suffering of some of the world’s most vulnerable women?
Hegseth orders rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals and admirals Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called for an unusual gathering of the US military's top brass, summoning hundreds of generals and admirals to a Marine Corps base in Virginia next week without giving them a clear explanation. The Washington Post reports that the sudden order has startled many in uniform, particularly given the scale and secrecy surrounding the event. While the Pentagon occasionally holds large conferences, those are normally planned far in advance and come with a well-defined agenda. This directive is different — abrupt, secretive, and global in scope.

Trump extracts "shake-down" payment in TikTok deal The Trump regime recently approached a coalition of US investors set to take over TikTok's US operations with an ask: Will the group make a payment to the federal government "in the low billions," according to a person with direct knowledge of the talks. The response from the investors, which includes tech mogul Larry Ellison, the Murdochs, and venture capital heavyweight Andreessen Horowitz, was an unequivocal yes. "Not a single member balked," said the person, who was not authorized to speak publicly. "They see it as something of a finders' fee." Welcome to Donald Trump's new business agenda: Extracting payments as if the federal government is brokering deals like a white-shoe consulting firm fueled by lucrative "fees for service." Luigi Zingales, a professor of finance at the University of Chicago, explained, "At a minimum, this now means there is a tax imposed on every major business transaction. But even worse, businesses will no longer be focused on innovating and creating value and instead the whole game now is rent-seeking. It's all about ingratiating yourself with Trump." Crony capitalism at its finest, y'all.
Oklahoma schools superintendent who put Trump Bibles in classrooms resigns
Ryan Walters, the Christian nationalist schools superintendent who instituted a number of batshit crazy, headline-grabbing policies since taking office in 2022, is calling it quits just three years into his five-year term. During his short but disastrous tenure, Walters mandated Trump Bibles be installed in EVERY public school classroom, required the teaching of the MAGA cult leader's debunked 2020 election conspiracies, ordered all high schools to start a local chapter of Charlie Kirk's far-right indoctrination organization, Turning Point USA, and appointed Libs of TikTok hate merchant Chaya Raichik to the state education committee. Walters is abandoning Oklahoma voters and his post two years early to lead the Teacher Freedom Alliance (TFA), a conservative nonprofit where he will ostensibly lead the charge to "destroy teachers unions" at the national level "once and for all." Walters leaves behind a public schools system that ranks 50th in the nation. Hopefully his new gig has much less restrictive rules on looking at porn on the job!

ICE detainees death toll reaches 16 amid concerns over "horrendous" conditions
Donald Trump's deeply disturbing immigrant purge has racked up some alarming figures, none more problematic than the detainee death toll, which has now reached 16 this year. To date, the MAGA cult leader's ICE goons have arrested and deported nearly a quarter million people. There are almost 60,000 in ICE custody right now, where conditions — despite disingenuous official statements claiming otherwise — are downright abysmal. Setareh Ghandehari, advocacy director of the Detention Watch Network, said in a statement to The Guardian: "ICE detention is inherently inhumane, and we've documented horrendous conditions for decades. What we are seeing now is an exacerbation of these conditions that is resulting in more deaths." The Guardian has reached out to ICE and the Department of Homeland Security for comment about the 2025 death toll. We suggest you don't hold your breath.
This rollback could turn over 45 million acres of national forestlands to private logging companies
Earthjustice: National forests that are part of our public lands system are under attack by the Trump administration. For nearly 25 years, pristine forests in backcountry lands across the nation have been off-limits to massive corporate logging operations, thanks to a Forest Service policy known as the Roadless Rule. These forests provide vital wildlife habitat; protect clean, mountain-fed drinking water for millions of Americans; and provide endless recreational opportunities like camping, hunting, fishing, rafting, and mountain biking. Join the fight to protect the forests that belong to all of us, by keeping the Roadless Rule in place!
ICE agent tackles woman to ground after her husband is snatched Speaking of inherently inhumane, ICE has once again been caught on camera violently arresting people in the halls of immigration court. Conservative journalist Elaad Eliahu on Thursday filmed a man desperately holding onto his wife and children as about five ICE agents—all but one masked—surrounded them in a New York City immigration court. Two of them wrapped their arms around the man’s neck, putting in him a chokehold as they attempted to drag him away. The agents eventually ripped him away from his distraught, screaming family and detained him. After he was dragged away, the man’s wife walked up to the only unmasked ICE officer, pleading with him in Spanish. The agent just yelled “Adios! Adios!” in her face. She continued to beg him, until he quickly shoved her into the wall, and then the ground, standing over her as her children screamed in horror. It is SO good to be great again.
Trump hikes tariffs on heavy trucks, pharma, furniture, and kitchen cabinets Once more for the folks in the back of the room: Tariffs. Are. Taxes. If you're in the market for a new couch, a kitchen upgrade, some industrial heavy machinery, or perhaps some life-saving medication you best make your move before October 1.
Trump says he "will not allow" Israel to annex West Bank after lobbying from allies Donald Trump is deluding himself silly if he thinks he can steer Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a bona fide war criminal, off his predetermined course. Color us shocked.
Senior Trump aide Peter Navarro publicly trashes "biggest disappointment" Jim Jordan: "Sits on his ass and he’s done it for years!" White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, who served four months in prison on federal contempt of Congress convictions, took dead aim at fellow MAGA diehard and man who also likes to roll up his shirt sleeves, Jim Jordan, calling the congressman from Ohio "the biggest disappointment of my life in [sic] the Hill." Who knows? Maybe we'll see these two knuckleheads work things out in the octagon at next summer's UFC 4th of July Toxic Shit Show on the White House Lawn™!
But wait, there's (always) more!
On the brink...
Meanwhile, elsewhere
Hope...
