It’s Haley Stevens, and I’m reaching out with a warning: Health insurance coverage across the Midwest is starting to fall apart. And Trump and his MAGA allies are to blame.

Donald Trump and his Republican allies are threatening a government shutdown because they don’t want to renew critical Obamacare subsidies that help working families afford health insurance.

And already, even before a shutdown has happened, we’re seeing the chaos take hold.

In rural communities across the Midwest, hospitals are slated to shut down. In Michigan, health plans are proposing premium hikes of 15% for hundreds of thousands of people – while we still don’t know whether tax credits will be renewed to help people cover those costs.

Here’s why I’m concerned: Michigan families could see skyrocketing premiums, fewer options, and flat-out cancellations of care. One provider said they couldn’t afford to stay because the marketplace was simply becoming too volatile.

This chaos is straight from Donald Trump. His administration has been in charge for nearly a year – and they’ve done nothing to lower prices or provide relief for everyday people. Instead, they’re gutting Medicaid, attacking the Affordable Care Act, and risking a government shutdown over subsidies that keep working families insured.

I’m running for Senate because Michiganders deserve better. I will never stop fighting to protect our care, lower costs, and support working families. But I can’t do it alone.
