A former FBI Director faces criminal charges. Hundreds of top generals are called to an unprecedented Pentagon summit. And TikTok’s fate in the U.S. hinges on a last-minute deal greenlit by both Washington and Beijing.
COMEY INDICTED: “No One Is Above the Law”
Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on one count of making false statements and one count of obstruction of justice, just days before the statute of limitations was set to expire. The indictment follows a swift move by the Trump administration, which replaced U.S. Attorney Erik Siebert with White House legal aide Lindsey Halligan, who immediately sought the charges from a grand jury in Virginia.
Attorney General Pam Bondi, without naming Comey directly, announced, “No one is above the law. Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people.”
The charges are believed to stem from Comey's 2020 Senate testimony, in which he denied authorizing any leaks related to FBI investigations into Trump or Hillary Clinton — a claim contradicted by his then-deputy, Andrew McCabe, and the DOJ Inspector General.
This is just the latest development in a broader investigation into Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan, both of whom played central roles in the origins of the Trump-Russia probe. The DOJ’s appetite for high-profile accountability appears far from satisfied.
PENTAGON SHAKEUP? 800+ SENIOR COMMANDERS CALLED TO DC
Something big is brewing behind closed doors at the Pentagon.
Over 800 senior military leaders — including generals, admirals, and top enlisted advisors — have been ordered to report to Virginia next week for a rare in-person gathering. The Pentagon has confirmed the event but refuses to disclose the agenda.
The move comes as War Secretary Pete Hegseth pushes for sweeping structural reforms to what he calls a “top-heavy command.” Hegseth wants to slash the number of four-star officers by at least 20%, cut down overall flag officer roles, and streamline the military’s upper brass. He’s also promised a shift back toward homeland defense.
For context, today’s military has 1 general for every 1,400 troops. During World War II, the ratio was 1 per 6,000.
Inside the ranks, rumors are flying.
TIKTOK DEAL CLEARS FIRST HURDLE — TRUMP SIGNS EXEC ORDER
President Trump has signed an executive order that paves the way for the sale of TikTok’s U.S. operations, pausing enforcement of the 2024 divestiture law until Dec. 16, 2025.
Under the proposed structure American investors will own 80% of a newly formed domestic entity while ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent, would retain less than 20%. Oracle is expected to oversee U.S. user data and algorithm compliance.
Trump said the decision aligns with the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA) — a law mandating that TikTok either divest or face a nationwide ban.
“I had a very good talk with President Xi,” Trump told reporters. “We talked about TikTok. And he gave us the go-ahead.”
While the Supreme Court has ruled that the law is constitutional, serious hurdles remain. China must sign off on licensing and data controls, and critics in the United States could still launch lawsuits over transparency, ownership, or the algorithm’s core technology.
