New year and an exciting new move for Tommyfield Market
We’ve been listening to our traders and they’ve told us the best time to move into the brand new market in Spindles is after Christmas.
That means Tommyfield Market will be staying put for the festive season.
Traders are keen that everyone can move into the new space as one, keeping the market family together, and give businesses the time they need to fit out their new stalls.
The market remains open and ready to welcome you this Christmas, so shop local, support our market family, and look forward to an exciting new chapter in 2026.

[Olivia Cooke speaking on the social media account TOPJAW ]
Oldham actress Olivia proves there's no taste like home
We’re always proud to see homegrown talent making an impact on the world stage – and even prouder when they carry a piece of Oldham with them wherever they go.
Oldham-born actress Olivia Cooke, star of House of the Dragon and The Girlfriend, was recently asked to name the best value place to eat by social media account TOPJAW, who make food and travel videos mainly based in the the capital.
Instead of picking a London restaurant, she shone the spotlight back on Oldham – choosing Ree Ming Chinese Chippy on Oldham Road.
"It's brilliant," she enthused. "Meat and potato pie, chips and gravy – change from a fiver. And the gravy is so good, obviously.”
Moments like this are a reminder of the pride we share in the borough and the local businesses and favourites that leave a lasting impression.
