Team — I was proud to lead the way on passing historic climate change legislation during the Biden administration.
One of the most impactful parts of that legislation was billions of dollars in tax credits for clean, renewable energy projects across the country. And make no mistake, this legislation was a huge success.
Almost immediately, companies began making use of these tax credits. It led to the largest boom in green energy investment in American history, creating tens of thousands of high-paying jobs, reinvigorating local economies, and lowering energy bills for working families. We put America on the path to a renewable future.
But since January, Trump has done everything he could to kill those tax credits.
There’s only one thing you can call something like this: Stupid. Just plain stupid.
Trump thinks he’s some master businessman, but all he’s done by ending these tax credits is kill jobs, harm American manufacturing, and make it much harder to fight climate change.
But it’s no surprise when you remember who bankrolled Trump’s campaign: Oil and gas companies, and fossil fuel lobbyists.
Yes, this administration is completely captured by Big Oil, and they are willing to destroy both our planet and our economy to line their pockets.
Listen, a vast majority of Americans agree that this is a stupid move. They are already seeing projects get cancelled in their communities and feeling the devastating effects.
But we need to get to work bringing those Americans into a grassroots movement that can take on Trump and reverse these decisions before it's too late to act on climate. That starts with organizing every day from now until next year’s midterms so we can take back some power in Washington and block Trump’s pro-pollution, anti-American agenda.
If you agree, use this link or the button below to chip in to my campaign. Every donation goes back into our efforts to beat the far-right and grow our movement for climate action.
I need you in this fight with me, if we are going to win.
In solidarity,
Ed Markey
