Thirty-nine clinical research sites in South Africa have been affected by funding cuts, placing at least 27 HIV trials and 20 tuberculosis (TB) trials at risk. This includes sites researching to find a cure for HIV. This research has shaped global health policies and revolutionized TB and HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care worldwide.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been involved in TB care for over three decades, treating patients in conflict zones, refugee camps, and remote areas around the world.
