HHS Secretary RFK Jr. is turning his dangerous and fringe ideas into policy—and putting the lives of Americans at risk. Add your name to the petition demanding he be fired!
Dear MoveOn member,
RFK Jr.'s extreme and fringe ideas about health and science are putting Americans in danger. And even his predecessors agree.1 As secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), he has only doubled down and escalated in spreading misinformation about vaccines, disregarding science, and expressing contempt for medical experts.
And now he's colluding with Trump to spread misleading and unfounded claims about Tylenol, pregnancy, and autism that will endanger pregnant people and their babies, increase stigma against autistic communities, and increase distrust in our medical community. Telling pregnant people to "tough it out" is reckless and dangerous—but that’s exactly what Trump and RFK Jr. are doing.2
Earlier this year, a devastating outbreak of measles infected 500 people—mostly unvaccinated children. Two young children died from the infection.3 What did Secretary Kennedy do? He recklessly spread unsupported claims about the measles vaccine and downplayed its effectiveness.4 When we say lives are on the line, we mean it.
From destabilizing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to undermining our children’s and families’ access to vital vaccines, RFK Jr. has betrayed his position and the American people. Will you sign the petition demanding that he be fired and replaced immediately?
Under his direction, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director, Dr. Susan Monarez, was recently fired for “holding the line on scientific integrity”—leading to the mass exodus of other top CDC officials.5
Secretary Kennedy also fired every single member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and, in their place, appointed a panel of vaccine skeptics, including individuals who oppose mRNA vaccines, spread misinformation on COVID-19 and measles, and espouse debunked theories on vaccines and autism.6
And under Secretary Kennedy, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rescinded its emergency use authorizations for COVID-19 vaccines and has approved the latest version of the vaccine only for people 65 or older or who have unspecified high-risk medical conditions—against the recommendations of most major medical organizations. He has stripped funding for mRNA vaccine research, parroted debunked information about vaccines, and undermined the CDC by calling it a "cesspool of corruption."7
RFK Jr. was never fit to be Department of Health and Human Services secretary, and his failed leadership is putting Americans in danger. Will you sign the petition?
Don't take our word for it.
Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Subcommittee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro is just one of many legislators who have spoken out in opposition to RFK Jr., stating, "RFK Jr. was never qualified to be Secretary of HHS, and he never should have been allowed to set foot in the building. The longer we wait, the more lives we risk."9
More than 1,000 current and former federal health workers signed a letter warning about RFK Jr.'s risk to public health, stating, "Under Secretary Kennedy’s leadership, HHS policies are placing the health of all Americans at risk, regardless of their politics."10
And reputable groups like the American Public Health Association agree: "Secretary Robert Kennedy is a danger to the public's health and should resign or be fired."11
Even Senate Whip John Barrasso—a Republican—expressed disappointment in Secretary Kennedy's failed leadership, stating, "I've grown deeply concerned."12
Instead of putting science and health above all else, RFK Jr. is prioritizing partisanship and putting lives at risk. We have a window of opportunity in this moment as he faces increased scrutiny to expose his incompetence and demand his removal.
Add your name to the petition now, and then share with three friends who care about public health and science.
Thanks for all you do.
