Folks, Donald Trump just took another dangerous step toward consolidating unchecked power — and the Supreme Court helped him do it.
Here’s what happened: Trump tried to fire a Democratic-appointed commissioner at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), one of our nation’s most important consumer protection watchdogs.
For nearly 90 years, the law has said presidents can only remove FTC commissioners for things like corruption or neglect of duty. But Trump doesn't care about the law. He wanted her gone because she didn’t agree with his agenda.
And instead of stopping him, the Supreme Court sided with Trump — blocking the commissioner’s reinstatement while it reviews the case.
If the Court ultimately overturns decades of precedent, it will hand Trump the power to purge independent agencies of anyone who dares stand up to him.
We can’t let that happen.
