We have great news to share: Republicans are already leading in early voting!
According to the Virginia Mercury, of the 20 districts with the highest number of ballots cast so far, 11 are strongly Republican or lean Republican, while only 5 are strongly Democrat and 4 are competitive. Over 35,000 Virginians have already voted — and all indications point to Virginia Republicans leading the way.
This is no accident. It’s the result of a deliberate strategy to prioritize early voting, mobilize our voters, and bank votes now. As RPV Chairman Mark Peake told the Mercury, “It’s a huge part of RPV strategy to contact less likely voters and to get them motivated, to get them out early and to get all Republican voters out early. The early results show that our strategy is paying off.”
But this race is a long way from over, and we have to keep up the momentum.
Here are the key details to remember about early voting in Virginia:
Early voting is open NOW through 5:00 p.m. on November 1
The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is October 24 at 5:00 p.m.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is October 24
