Indivisibles,

Next week presents an incredible opportunity to learn some new tactics and
tricks for your ongoing organizing work as we host TWO guest speakers.

On Monday, September 29, we’ll be offering [ [link removed] ]Part 2 of our Solidarity in
Action -- Creating Mutual Aid Community Response Teams training with
Stephanie Rearick at 7pm ET/4pm PT.

Then:

On Tuesday, September 30, our very own [ [link removed] ]Co-Executive Director Ezra Levin
will facilitate a discussion with Randi Weingarten, President of the
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) about her book Why Fascists Fear
Teachers at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT.

Both of these sessions are opportunities to learn from veterans in the
movement about their focuses, what has worked for them, and why. Whether
we’re building our capacity to offer help to our community or trying to
figure out how to defend democracy, we need to learn from experts to move
forward with intention and clarity. Keep reading for more details on each
event.

[ [link removed] ]Solidarity in Action: Creating Mutual Aid and Community Response Teams
Monday, September 29, at 7pm ET/4pm PT

This call is part of our Solidarity in Action series. [ [link removed] ]Part one (watch
the recording) of this series covered practical strategies to support one
another with mutual aid outside of the traditional power structures. In
part two, we’ll be digging deeper into the specific strategies for
creating, developing, and launching a mutual aid program. You’ll
participate in group work on developing an existing project or incubating
new ideas to discover community needs.

Stephanie Rearick is the Creative Director of Mutual Aid Networks, a new
type of networked cooperative. In addition to her work growing
grassroots-up economic and community regeneration, Rearick is co-owner of
Mother Fool’s Coffeehouse. Rearick also works as a musician.

[ [link removed] ]Frontline in the Fight: Why Fascists Fear Teachers Tuesday, Septewmber
30 at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT

Randi Weingarten is an experienced educator and attorney, the president of
the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and one of the most respected
labor leaders in the country. Her work is foundational to the contemporary
fight for a better, fairer education system for all.

We’ll use her book, [ [link removed] ]Why Fascists Fear Teachers, to look at how the far
right uses race-baiting and disinformation to attack teachers and weaken
democracy, the power of communities uniting to defend education, and what
we can do, across race and place, to build schools and a future where our
kids can thrive.

It is vital that, as we fight back against fascism, we continue to educate
ourselves on the different tactics and tools that experienced activists
before us have used to win. Join us at our two opportunities to learn from
the experts next week with [ [link removed] ]Randi Weingarten on 9/30 and [ [link removed] ]Stephanie
Rearick on 9/29.
