While the Trump administration wages a relentless campaign against Planned Parenthood and an all-out assault on reproductive health care, California is fighting back.
This week I led a multistate coalition in filing a motion for a preliminary injunction to block the administration from defunding Planned Parenthood and enacting what amounts to a back-door abortion ban.

Here’s what’s going on:
The GOP’s so-called “big, beautiful” bill, signed into law this summer, contained a “Defund Provision” that blocks certain health centers — including Planned Parenthood — from receiving federal Medicaid funding.
Let’s be clear: this funding was *never* used to provide abortion care. Instead, it allows Planned Parenthood to provide cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and birth control to low-income patients.
But thanks to Trump’s reckless and cruel budget provisions, this loss of funding puts these health centers at risk of closure, leaving vulnerable patients in the lurch.
