Meta Whistleblowers and Accountability for Aylo Meta Whistleblowers Allege Suppressed Child Safety Research in VR At a Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing this month, two former Meta Virtual Reality (VR) researchers testified that Meta prioritized virtual reality profits over child safety. According to these whistleblowers, internal research revealing children being groomed, bullied, or exposed to sexual content on VR platforms was suppressed or even deleted.   The Washington Post previously reported that while conducting research in Germany, Meta whistleblower Jason Sattizahn heard that a child under 10 was propositioned in VR numerous times, but his boss told him not to include that information in his report. See EIE's Press Statement Here FTC Fines Pornhub for Failing to Prevent Child Sex Abuse Content Earlier this month, the FTC fined Pornhub’s parent company $5M for failing to stop child sexual abuse material and non-consensual videos. Aylo had promoted a “zero-tolerance” policy while neglecting to enforce it—allowing harmful content to flourish, especially before December 2020. No company should profit while children are at risk. Let’s keep demanding accountability and stronger protections for kids online! The FTC’s settlement is a significant step; yet, more needs to be done as their $5 million is just a drop in the bucket compared to the billions they make off of illegal content,” said Donna Rice Hughes, President and CEO, Enough Is Enough®.
