Patriot, They want it both ways. Politicians in both parties are waving the flag and screaming “freedom of speech.” But at the same time, they are trying to chip away your First Amendment rights. In the wake of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk just two weeks ago, calls to crack down on the First Amendment guarantee of free speech have gotten louder and louder from both sides of the political aisle. First came the threat from Attorney General Pam Bondi, who said she’d go after American citizens who post the “wrong thing” on social media for so-called “hate crime” violations. Then came threats from the FCC to go after broadcasters who permit tasteless comments. Not to be outdone, U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) joined forces to go after online speech by ending Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. This odious effort has bipartisan support in D.C. and will ultimately cancel online speech for millions of Americans. Patriot, click here right now to defend your freedom of speech. The irony of all this is Charlie Kirk himself stood for free speech and wouldn’t go along with the calls to shut Americans up. He’s quoted as saying, “My position is that even hate speech should be completely and totally allowed in our country. The most disgusting speech should absolutely be protected. I think that in a civil society, the best ideals will win as long as you have that marketplace. And here’s the real issue: As soon as you shut up ‘hate speech,’ those people only get more powerful. And this is the unintended consequence of censorship. You give more credence to the ‘silenced person’ the moment you shut them up.” Some of the comments posted about Kirk in the past two weeks have truly been vile, heartless, and inappropriate as they celebrated the murder of a human, a husband, and a father. Being heartless and vile is not a crime – but threats of violence are. Being socially shamed or losing a job over vile public comments can be a justifiable consequence. This is the free market at work. But when government force is used against protected speech, a dangerous line is crossed. Pam Bondi isn’t the only member of the current administration pulling a complete about-face from their viewpoint earlier this year. Perhaps they need to be reminded of Vice President J.D. Vance’s stated position earlier this year on the freedom of speech: “In Washington, there is a new sheriff in town; and under Donald Trump‘s leadership, we may disagree with your views, but we will fight to defend your right to offer it in the public square, agree or disagree.” Patriot, freedom of speech isn’t a partisan issue. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg admitted his platform succumbed to pressure from the Democrat Biden administration to censor users’ posts about the Corona-crisis and the 2024 election. Google-owned YouTube just admitted on Tuesday they booted tens of thousands of content creators off their platform because they posted videos contrary to the Biden-Fauci nonsense which is now being exposed as true. Google admitted the Biden administration “pressed” the tech giant and YouTube to censor content the administration felt was COVID-19 “misinformation.” Even C4L Chairman Ron Paul was banned from YouTube with “no warning, no strikes, no evidence.” His crime . . . questioning the government narrative. It’s all a part of the statists’ agenda. And make no mistake about it, part of that agenda is to silence people like you and me. That’s why it’s CRITICAL you tell Congress RIGHT NOW: HANDS OFF MY RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH! Senator Graham and his statist friends are demanding an end to Section 230, which was enacted as part of the Communications Decency Act in 1996 and provides immunity for online services for content published by third-party users on their platforms. Those “third-party users” include you and me and millions of other private citizens. Section 230 protects service providers from being liable for content posted by third-party users, as well as protection from liability for the voluntary good faith removal of third-party content the operator finds objectionable – whether it's constitutionally protected or not. If Section 230 didn’t exist, online speech for millions of Americans would ultimately be canceled, since companies would be assuming massive legal responsibility for every word posted on their website. But Section 230 is on the statists’ radar, and they are working hard to repeal it and take away your First Amendment rights. Time is short and I’m asking you to take just one moment to tell your representative and senators: Protect the First Amendment. HANDS OFF SECTION 230. You and I need to keep the pressure on Congress and make sure those who want to stop the free exchange of ideas and freedom of expression aren’t successful in repealing Section 230. Tell your representative and senators: Protect the First Amendment. HANDS OFF SECTION 230. Free speech is under threat, right here in America, and especially in the heat of the extreme political rhetoric we have seen and heard in recent weeks.
