As antisemitism surges across the globe and Jews face rising threats, including violent attacks, we cannot afford to be divided from within. Our survival has always depended on unity, resilience, and the understanding that our greatest strength comes from standing together. Sadly, some within our own community undermine this strength by supporting those who seek to harm us.
In our latest piece, “The Token Jews: How Far-Left Jewish Voices Misrepresent American Jewry,” we discuss how figures like Ezra Klein, Peter Beinart, and actress Hannah Einbinder weaponize their Jewish identity to give progressive cover to anti-Zionist narratives. By doing so, they misrepresent American Jewry, where the overwhelming majority see Israel as central to Jewish identity and survival. Worse, they are repeating the dangerous mistakes of the past, trading Jewish unity and security for fleeting approval from progressive circles.
Last year, we made a similar point in our article “Anti-Zionist Jews are fringe voices – it’s time we ridicule them,”. We explained how a loud but marginal group of radical Jews exploit their identity to attack the Jewish state and provide cover for antisemitism. Groups like Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, along with certain individual Jewish activists, have become ‘useful idiots’ for those who aim to dismantle Israel and put the Jewish people at risk.
We warned then, as we warn now, that elevating tokenized voices distorts the reality of American Jewry, erodes unity, weakens our defenses against antisemitism, and endangers the Jewish state. The tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, a steadfast friend of the Jewish people, underscores this painful truth: while our strongest allies often come from outside the community, too many dividing voices arise from within.
Lastly, we invite you to learn about Students Supporting Israel (SSI), a grassroots campus movement active on over 150 campuses worldwide, leading face-to-face advocacy, impactful campaigns, and student government engagement to empower young leaders to stand proudly with Israel.
May this new year be one of strength, resilience, and unity for us all.
Wishing you a happy and healthy new year,
Gila and Adam Milstein
