Hi, John, it's Abigail Spanberger, Democratic nominee for Governor of Virginia. I wanted to be the first to tell you: The first votes have been cast in our race for Governor.
The way I look at it, we aren't just deciding Virginia's future this November. We're setting the tone for 2026, 2028, and beyond. By embracing a politics that puts Virginians first — not a president, not a party; by drawing on the powerful conversations I've had with thousands of Virginians; and by laying out a common-sense agenda, starting with a plan to make all of our lives more affordable. Our victory at the ballot box will pave the way for Democrats for years to come. That's why far-right Republicans have spent tens of millions of dollars against me. It’s why Donald Trump is attacking me from inside the Oval Office. And it's why meeting our fundraising goals is so important. But as I learned working cases at the CIA and crafting laws at the U.S. Capitol, you're only as good as the team around you.
