When voters gave Democrats here in Minnesota a trifecta in state government, they didn’t play it safe. They didn’t play by the rules of corporate special interests.

They passed bold legislation to help working Minnesotans thrive in an economy where the cost of living just keeps going up.

Universal, free school breakfasts and lunches is the kind of common sense program that everyone can get behind. For many working families, it has been a huge boost for their wallets and their child’s education.

And Democrats in Minnesota didn’t stop at school meals. They passed legislation on voting rights, workers’ rights, paid family and medical leave, green energy policies, and reproductive rights.

So here’s a simple lesson we should all remember: The point of getting elected is to deliver results.

Democrats’ path back to power relies on our ability to challenge the entrenched power of corporations and the mega-rich to create these kinds of significant changes in the lives of Americans.

Trump offered to lower the cost of living and turn this country around. It was a lie.

But if we don’t offer our own agenda — an agenda of big ideas that rises to the level of frustration and exasperation that working Americans feel every day — we will continue to allow Republicans to divide and conquer in election after election.

That’s the exact vision that Ilhan Omar fights for, and it’s the vision she brings to Congress. Ilhan has always pushed Democrats to embrace ideas like universal healthcare, tuition-free college, and paid family and medical leave.

If you agree that Democrats need to reject corporate special interests and fight for bold policies to lift up America’s working class, consider chipping in to Ilhan’s campaign today. If we want to defeat the far-right and get our country back on track, we have to prove to regular Americans that we fight for them and will deliver real results.
