WILL Unveils Roadmap to Secure Wisconsin Elections

WILL unveiled a new report, “The WILL of The People: A Roadmap to Enforce Wisconsin’s Citizenship Voting Amendment,” which outlines a clear process to audit Wisconsin's voter rolls using existing state and federal data.

In 2024, by an overwhelming 71% margin, Wisconsin voters approved a constitutional amendment providing that only U.S. citizens can vote in national, state, and local elections.

Our report proposes a clear, five-step process for conducting the voter roll audit to ensure accuracy and safeguard lawful voters' rights. These steps are designed to identify and remove any ineligible voters.

WILL Associate Counsel, Nathalie Burmeister, stated, “Wisconsin’s Constitution now clearly says that only U.S. citizens can vote. Even if non-citizen voting is rare, every unlawful ballot dilutes the voice of lawful voters and undermines confidence in our elections. Policymakers have a duty to enforce this amendment, and a real audit is the only way to do that.”

WILL Defends Girls Sports & Spaces

On behalf of three high school students and a coalition of Wisconsin parents, WILL filed an amicus brief in West Virginia v. B.P.J, a case currently before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Our brief argues that laws limiting girls’ sports to biological girls do not violate Title IX. We also explain that the decision will impact bathrooms and locker rooms, and we urge the Court to directly overrule lower court decisions (including from the Seventh Circuit) that require schools to give boys access to girls’ facilities.

WILL Deputy Counsel, Luke Berg, stated, “For far too long, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana have been burdened by the Seventh Circuit’s deeply flawed rulings that schools must allow transgender-identifying boys to access girls’ facilities. We hope the Supreme Court’s decision will not only protect girls’ sports but also clarify that those decisions are no longer good law—and never have been.”

WILL Testifies on Education Decline

Today, WILL Research Director, Will Flanders, testified before the Wisconsin State Assembly and Senate Committees on Education to discuss changes to the Department of Public Instruction's (DPI) Report Card System and the outlook of Wisconsin education.

In August, WILL submitted recommendations to DPI, urging an overhaul of the state's new school report card standards. WILL's analysis highlights DPI's track record of inflating ratings that masks a decades-long stagnation in student achievement.

WILL Research Director, Will Flanders, stated, “Wisconsin is falling behind the rest of the country academically and changing standards only masks this decline. Instead of raising the bar, we are simply putting our heads in the sand.”
