Friend,

Trump and Congressional Republicans are refusing to solve a healthcare
crisis they created. That’s unacceptable.

Republicans are refusing to do their jobs and the consequences for the
American people are staggering:

* 22 million people could see their premiums spike if Congress fails to
extend enhanced ACA subsidies – twenty-two million is no small number.
It’s equal to the COMBINED populations of Wyoming, Vermont, D.C.,
Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Delaware, Rhode Island, Montana,
Maine, New Hampshire, Hawaii, West Virginia, Idaho, Nebraska, New
Mexico, and Mississippi.^[ [link removed] ]
* Up to 15 million people are projected to lose coverage outright over
the next decade because of Republican cuts.^[ [link removed] ]
* More than 700 rural hospitals – about one in three nationwide – are at
risk of shutting their doors, devastating entire communities.^[ [link removed] ]

our healthcare. >>

This health care crisis didn’t appear out of nowhere. It was created when
Republicans gutted health care spending in their budget bill earlier this
year – slashing support for families while protecting tax breaks for
corporations and the wealthy. Now, they’re doubling down by refusing to
fix the damage they caused.

Democrats in Congress are ready to work. They’ve been clear from the
start: extend the ACA tax credits that lower premiums by an average of
$700, protect health care, and keep the government open. Three times
Democrats have called for action, and three times Republicans have
refused.

The American people overwhelmingly oppose these cuts. But Trump and
Republicans in Congress don’t care what voters want. They would rather
drive us toward a shutdown than protect families from higher costs and
lost care so they can hand out tax cuts to corporations and billionaires.

prevent a shutdown. >>

Each day that Republicans stall brings us closer to a healthcare disaster.
Millions of Americans cannot afford higher premiums or lost coverage – and
none of us can afford an economy brought to its knees because Republicans
refuse to govern.

If Republicans think the public will stay silent while they rip health
care away from millions and force a shutdown on the entire country,
they’re wrong.

Together, we can hold them accountable, stop their reckless power plays,
and make sure Congress protects families instead of sacrificing them for
politics.

In solidarity,

People For the American Way
