Hospitals, nursing homes and health clinics all across the country are shutting their doors.

Now, Republicans want us to help them pass a dirty spending bill that would allow tax credits for working families to expire -- driving up premiums, copays and deductibles for more than 20 million Americans.

But here's the situation:

• Trump demanded that Republicans refuse to act in a bipartisan matter.

• House Republicans canceled all votes until after the government shuts down.

• Trump is so afraid of us taking the fight directly to the Oval Office that he's canceled a meeting with Senator Schumer and me.

My message to him is clear: You can run, but we will not let you hide from the fact that you are trying to gut American healthcare and shut the government down.

Everyone is watching to see how Democrats will respond. That's why I'm reaching out now. Republicans think they can lie and cheat their way to another term in power so they can finally destroy the Affordable Care Act and privatize Medicare. We must take back the House next November.
