Dear John,

Today, Forefront published a remembrance for Health Affairs founding editor, John Iglehart, who passed away earlier this year.

To celebrate his many contributions to Health Affairs, we wanted to share a few fond memories from his peers and colleagues as well as articles he authored.

Remembering John Iglehart

He elevated health policy and the forces shaping policy issues like no one had ever done, then and now. And in today’s crazy world, we could sure use a whole lot of John Iglehart. —Peter Buerhaus

Reflecting on John’s life in profound sorrow, I have come to but one conclusion: John’s life was well lived. He was highly accomplished in what he loved doing, highly respected by all, and much loved by all who knew him personally. For future generations, John’s remarkable legacy is a fine example of how one person can indeed make a difference. —Tsung-Mei Cheng

He reminded me of Clark Kent: a mild-mannered reporter with an "aw-shucks" Midwestern charm. But John had a superpower—his ability to build and sustain a health policy journal with outsized influence. His personality was central to the success of Health Affairs. His calm, likable demeanor inspired trust. He came across as politically neutral: curious about all perspectives and determined to be an honest broker in airing diverse views.
