John, let’s talk about one of the biggest hurdles federally elected officials have to face every 3 months and something you’ll be hearing more on from us this week: End-of-Quarter FEC filings.
What is it and why are they so important?
Mandated by the Federal Election Commission, we are about to show you (and every Republican strategist, donor and pundit in the country) every single dollar that is in our bank accounts. You get to see how much is spent on things like:
- Direct support for frontline candidates
- Staffing costs
- Union printers for materials
- Digital support
EOQ filings are also important because you get to see:
- How many corporate donors does a candidate or elected official have?
- Does a candidate take contributions from dark money PACs?
- Do they receive grassroots support from folks like you?
Filings like the one we’re facing on September 30 are an important accountability measure that ensures anyone running for or currently holding federal public office are acting as responsible financial stewards. And trust me when I say this, folks absolutely comb through these documents with a fine tooth comb. Our opponents included.
We’re gearing up for this busy season and would appreciate it if you're able to pitch in a few dollars to ensure we can report a strong grassroots donor base. Even $12 would go a long way.
You’ll hear more about our FEC filing soon and what you can do to help make sure we show up for our frontline candidates at this critical moment. Just know that I’m really proud of how our EOQ filings have gone in the past. We’re honest about the stakes, proud of how our values show up in our financial choices, and appreciate every single dollar in contributions that we’re able to report.
With gratitude,
Mary Gay
The contemporary political landscape is filled with progressive women who are running for elected office up and down the ballot, who possess a true vision of equality for this country's future. A Woman's Place seeks to support their efforts by providing financial resources to embrace this tongue-in-cheek idea of what a woman's place should be.
We help put women where they belong: positions of political leadership throughout all levels of government.
