John,
For nearly 40 years, Florida banned openly carrying firearms in public. That protection is gone.
Last week, an appeals court struck down the law, and the state’s Attorney General quickly announced the ruling applies everywhere in Florida calling open carry the “law of the state.”
This means something that was once unthinkable is now reality: people can walk down the street with a gun strapped to their chest or flash a handgun at the grocery store. A few narrow exceptions remain — schools, bars, courthouses, and private property that bans weapons — but for most public spaces, open carry is now legal.
We know what this means. It means more fear, more intimidation, and more lives at risk. This is the gun lobby’s vision for America, and Florida is just the beginning.
That’s why we’re asking you: Chip in $20.25 today to help March For Our Lives fight back against this dangerous decision to continue to buy and sell our lives and futures.
Open carry doesn’t make us safer. It normalizes fear. It emboldens those who want to threaten, harm, and control.
Florida’s rollback is not just a state issue. If we don’t organize now, this reckless policy will continue to spread.
We refuse to accept that future. We’re mobilizing young people across the country, demanding life-saving laws, and building a movement strong enough to take on the gun lobby and win. But every step forward depends on grassroots supporters like you.
