John,

This week, activists gathered outside the Chicago ICE Processing Facility — and I was with them. Why? Because under Trump’s cruel deportation regime, migrants are being snatched from our communities, separated from their families, and disappeared into places like this.

Since the launch of Operation Midway Blitz, there’s been a massive influx of detainees into this facility. Families often have no idea where their loved ones have been taken, or worse, what country they’re being deported to. The facility is a processing facility—often the last chance for activists to confirm who is inside, learn where they’re being sent, and relay that information back to desperate families, before they are shipped off to detention centers in other states.

And what was ICE’s response to our peaceful protest demanding answers? Tear gas. Rubber bullets. Violence. Now, they’re even putting up fences around the facility to keep protesters away, hiding the truth of what’s happening behind closed gates.

This should terrify all of us. Our federal government is sending masked agents to snatch brown people off the street, funneling them into secretive “processing centers,” and deporting them without due process, without transparency, and without notifying their families. That’s not just unjust — it’s racist, fascist, and dangerous.

I’ve been resisting this cruelty even before I ever ran for office — because we cannot allow this injustice to take place in America. My campaign has been out front: canvassing local businesses to educate our neighbors about their rights, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with families targeted by ICE, and joining protesters and activists on the streets.

And when I’m in Congress, I’ll continue fighting for my community. I’ll push Congress to subpoena ICE officials and officers to testify under oath about these abuses. I’ll use my authority to inspect facilities like this myself. And I’ll drive legislation to end Trump’s inhumane mass deportation campaign once and for all.

But I can’t do it alone. The fight against fascism requires people power — and that starts with grassroots campaigns like youWill you chip in $50, $25, or even $10 today to help us take this fight from Chicago’s streets to the halls of Congress?
