LULAC CONDEMNS DEADLY VIOLENCE AT DALLAS ICE FACILITY

Nation's Oldest and Largest Latino Civil Rights Organization Mourns Victims, Condemns Ideological Hatred, and Urges Calm

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) today condemned the deadly violence that unfolded this morning at an ICE facility along Interstate 35 in Dallas, Texas. Authorities report three detainees were shot, one critically, and a lone gunman died of an apparent self-inflicted wound.

"Violence is never the answer, and our nation must not normalize these horrific acts," said Roman Palomares, LULAC National President and Chairman of the Board. "We grieve with the families of the victims and urge Americans to lower the temperature in our public discourse."

Gabriel Rosales, Texas LULAC State Director, added: "This tragedy shows what happens when anger overtakes reason. No family should suffer such pain."

Ray Mancera, LULAC National Vice President for the Southwest, said: "We reject violence in any form, and we call on leaders at every level to act responsibly and stop inflaming tensions. Our communities deserve peace, not fear."

WASHINGTON, D.C. — La Liga de Ciudadanos Latinoamericanos Unidos (LULAC) condenó hoy la violencia mortal ocurrida esta mañana en un centro de ICE a lo largo de la Interestatal 35 en Dallas, Texas. Las autoridades informan que tres detenidos fueron baleados, uno de ellos en estado crítico, y un atacante murió por una herida aparentemente autoinfligida.

“La violencia nunca es la respuesta y nuestra nación no debe normalizar estos actos horribles,” dijo Roman Palomares, Presidente Nacional y Presidente de la Junta de LULAC. “Lamentamos con las familias de las víctimas y pedimos a los estadounidenses bajar el tono en nuestro discurso público.”

Gabriel Rosales, Director Estatal de Texas de LULAC, agregó: “Esta tragedia muestra lo que ocurre cuando la ira supera a la razón. Ninguna familia debe sufrir este dolor.”
