They don’t actually care about family values.

Ayanna Pressley for Congress

Movement family, Republicans claim they’re the party of “family values,” but I can’t believe the things that they say because I see the things that they do.

If Republicans cared about family values, they wouldn’t have approved cuts to vital programs like Head Start, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits — literally ripping food out of babies' mouths to pay for billionaire tax cuts.

If Republicans cared about family values, they wouldn’t have poured millions more dollars to fund masked ICE agents violently kidnapping parents just trying to get to work or get their child to school.

If Republicans cared about family values, they’d be championing legislation that actually helps families, like paid leave and universal child care.

Making people sicker by cutting Medicaid does not help families. Cutting SNAP and letting children go hungry does not help families. Stripping environmental protections that help prevent asthma does not help families.

Targeting trans youth does not help families. Whitewashing American history at Smithsonian Museums does not help families. Changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico does not help families.

Republicans are so unserious. They don’t actually care about family values.

They only care about clinging onto power, protecting abusers, erasing history they don’t like, and giving billionaires free reign to exploit working people — all at the expense of families.

The shame and sham of it all.

I’m calling out this blatant hypocrisy, working tirelessly to mitigate their harm, and beyond that, I’m presenting an affirmative vision that Democrats should adopt in order to win voters’ trust: A country where families can afford to dream, where consumers have more rights than corporations, and where our freedom is actually free.

As we approach the end-of-quarter deadline at the end of this month, I need your help to send a clear message: The people see right through Republicans' hypocrisy, and we know that better is possible. Will you help us show that people in Washington and across the country support this fight?
