Hold Nexstar and Sinclair accountable to protecting our free speech. Take action.
ACLU Supporter, after immediate and widespread outcry across the country, including from over 475 artists and 40,000 ACLU supporters, Jimmy Kimmel returned to air last night. But this fight isn't over – broadcasting giants Nexstar and Sinclair declared that they still won't air the show on their ABC affiliates.
This comes after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Brendan Carr threatened ABC affiliates using his power over broadcasting licenses – pressuring them to suspend Jimmy Kimmel after commentary that the administration disapproved of.
We've already proven the power of this community to protect free speech – and we must keep pushing. That's why we're flooding Nexstar and Sinclair's inboxes with messages demanding that they fight back against the Trump administration's intimidation – and we hope you'll join us: Tell Nexstar and Sinclair to uphold our freedom of speech and reject the Trump administration's demands. <[link removed]>
Take Action <[link removed]>
Kimmel is just the latest target in the Trump administration's series of threats and attacks on companies, entertainers, and reporting that the president doesn't like. The Trump administration has continued to threaten everyone from companies to reporters to entertainers, completely disregarding the freedom of the press that's enshrined in our First Amendment. They want to decide who can speak, write, and even joke.
Shamefully, too many companies have fallen in line, sending the message that President Trump is free to violate our constitution.
But we the people can do something to fight back by demanding companies like Nexstar and Sinclair choose to put their consumers and commitment to a free press over their fear of retaliation. Our democracy demands it.
Tell Nexstar and Sinclair that their capitulation to President Trump's personal demands is unacceptable. <[link removed]>
Thanks for all you do,
