Hi friend ,

Today is not just another conference for me. It's a powerful reminder that we're still here, and we're not going anywhere.

As I write this, I'm thinking about the moment we're living through. Trump and his extremist allies are working overtime to erase Black history from our classrooms. They're dismantling DEI programs that opened doors for our community. They're vilifying our cities and talking about "militarizing" them like we're enemy territory instead of home to millions of Americans building better lives.

Their message is clear: They want us to disappear, to be silent, to accept less.

Our response? This week's 54th Annual Legislative Conference.

While extremists plot to roll back our progress, we'll be in Washington doing what we've always done: building power, creating opportunities, and charting our own path forward.

For the next few days, the ALC becomes living proof that their efforts to diminish us have failed spectacularly. We'll be connecting Black entrepreneurs with the capital that builds generational wealth, despite their efforts to undermine economic equity. We'll be celebrating the cultural excellence and history they're trying to erase. We'll be equipping the next generation of leaders with the tools they need to carry this work forward, no matter what obstacles get thrown in their way.

This is where resistance resides: in our ability to turn our adversaries' attacks into opportunities.

As CBC Chair, I get to steward this moment of defiance and excellence. Every panel, every connection, every event is proof that while they're busy trying to tear us down, we're busy building up.

In many ways, this moment represents everything they don't want to see: Black political power, Black economic power, Black intellectual power, all converging in the heart of America’s democracy.

Over the week, I want to bring you inside those rooms with me. Show you how we're not just surviving their attacks, we're thriving in spite of them. How we're turning this moment of crisis into our moment of unprecedented opportunity.

Because while right-wing extremists are busy trying to erase us, we're busy being undeniably, unapologetically present.

The ALC is our answer to their hatred. And I want you right there with me.

The foundation for all of this work is built by supporters like you.

That’s why I’m asking you to stand with me as we open ALC54. If you’re able, chip in any amount to help me keep lifting up our voices and carrying the work of the CBC beyond this conference. And whether or not you can give today, I hope you’ll follow along closely as we prove that Black political power is here to stay. [[link removed]]

Together, we’ll show that when Black voices lead, democracy is defended, and progress is made.Talk soon,
