Jack,

Humanitarian aid saves lives.

It provides clean water when wells run dry, medical care when illness strikes,
and safe shelter when violence forces families to flee. It's food for children,
trauma counseling for survivors, and hope for people who have lost everything.
And it represents less than 1% of the federal budget.

But what we’ve seen since President Trump took office on January 20 has been
unprecedented and breathtakingly cruel — from the shutdown of USAID to the
rescission of billions of dollars of aid that Congress had approved, abandoning
millions of people depending on that life-saving support.

And now, President Trump is trying to double down on these devastating cuts,
slashing humanitarian aid in the government’s upcoming new fiscal year budget
even further.

Fortunately, Congress now has the opportunity to reject these cruel cuts and
uphold this country’s longstanding tradition of protecting refugees across the
globe. Send a message to your representatives >>

TAKE ACTION

The effects of the funding cuts on the people that HIAS and our partners serve
have been immediate and devastating, as we’ve been forced to scale back or end
life-saving programs for displaced and at-risk children, mental health support
for refugees experiencing distress, economic inclusion programs that helped
refugees to build new lives, and efforts to prevent trafficking and violence
against women and girls around the world.

But despite these cuts, we refuse to abandon the people who depend on us.
Thanks to funding from other donor governments and supporters like you, we’re
continuing to provide life-saving assistance around the world and advocating
for decision makers to stand up against further cuts to aid.

In addition, right now, Global Health Council v. Trump, one of two lawsuits in
which HIAS is a plaintiff, is heading to the U.S. Supreme Court. The case
challenges the Trump administration’s freezing of humanitarian aid. We are
fighting to protect humanitarian aid in every way that we can, and we need you
to join us.

Jack, in moments like these, your voice matters. Your members of Congress need
to hear from constituents like you who believe the U.S. should stand with
refugees and displaced people worldwide. Take action now >>
