I didn’t think Donald Trump could outdo his infamous “inject bleach” press conference — but I was wrong.

This week, Trump announced that his administration had “discovered the cause of autism.” According to him, it’s Tylenol. And in the same breath, he ranted that vaccines “fry babies” and screamed “BREAK IT UP!” about the MMR vaccine.

Standing beside him was HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., flanked by FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, and others. Lots of very stable geniuses. Together, they laid out the roadmap for the next phase of their attack on America’s national immunization program.

Here’s what’s happening:

They’ve already begun restricting access to the MMRV vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox.
Next, they will come for the MMR itself — using scare tactics and pseudoscience to make it practically inaccessible for children under four years old.
Without the MMR, we will see the return of measles, rubella, and mumps epidemics in this country — diseases that blind, kill, and permanently disable children and devastate pregnant women.
