Dear John,
Jimmy Kimmel will return to television tonight — but Trump’s war on free speech is far from over.
He has cracked down on universities and abducted student protestors. He sued the New York Times and Wall Street Journal over reporting he didn’t like. And he cut off funding for public broadcasting because he thought it was biased against him.
Then, when Trump and his henchman, FCC Chair Brendan Carr, put the pressure on Disney and ABC to fire Jimmy Kimmel for criticizing Trump’s actions following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Disney suspended Kimmel “indefinitely.”
Now, responding to an immediate and powerful public boycott, Disney has reinstated Kimmel. But why was Disney, one of the most powerful corporations in the world, so quick to surrender? And why are other major media corporations so quick to follow suit?
Follow the money.
I hope you’ll watch this week’s video to find out the troubling backstory of why media organizations have been surrendering to Trump — and then get the word out by sharing it on your social media.
These billionaires and corporations think they can have a symbiotic partnership with Trump, but the lesson of history is tyrants can never be appeased. That is why we must boycott any media corporation that surrenders to Trump, and support independent local media instead.
Thank you for supporting those fearless voices that will defend our right to free speech!
