We fought back against corporate corruption and censorship—and we won! Now, let’s keep fighting. Will you sign up to attend a No Kings Day rally near you?
Dear MoveOn member,
Jimmy Kimmel is BACK. Thanks to the overwhelming public pressure over the past few days, ABC and Disney reversed their decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel after he criticized Trump and MAGA Republicans on-air for how they exploited Charlie Kirk’s murder for their own political gain.
More than 230,000 MoveOn members signed the petition demanding the late-night host be reinstated, thousands of people across the country showed up at ABC and Disney offices to protest, and subscribers leveraged their spending power by cancelling Disney streaming.
And it worked. "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" will be back starting Tuesday.1

We set out to remind corporations like ABC and Disney who really holds the power—not executives of major corporations, not the FCC chair, not Donald Trump—us. We, the people, hold the power. And we refuse to be silent as corporations cower to the Trump administration or major media corporations morph into Trump propaganda machines.
This is a major win—and we’re ready to keep winning.
Nexstar and Sinclair, which own many ABC broadcast stations, are now refusing to air "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" They want to strong-arm Disney and ABC in order to curry favor with the Trump administration and protect their unethical $6.2 billion merger.2 We have to keep applying pressure to hold them accountable and make sure ABC and Disney don’t cave.
And Trump isn’t going to stop at threatening late-show comedians like Kimmel whose commentary he dislikes. He wants to revoke the licenses of TV broadcasters.3 He wants to prosecute his "political opponents."4 He wants to crack down on our freedom of speech and right to protest. He wants to intimidate and silence any and all dissent. But we won’t let him.
On October 18, millions across the country will come together in nonviolent protest to say in the United States, we have no kings! Continue organizing to overcome authoritarianism and Trump’s censorship and power grabs by signing up to attend a No Kings Day rally near you.
The MoveOn Civic Action petition calling for Kimmel to be reinstated, and for ABC and Disney to stop caving to authoritarian censorship, was our fastest-growing petition of the year. Because of the hundreds of thousands of members backing the petition, we were able to get major media coverage in outlets like Forbes, US Weekly, and Newsweek.5,6,7
And members like you helped fund our mobile billboard that circled between Disney, Prospect Studios, and the El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday—piling on the pressure and outrage.
We showed what’s possible when we unite together, raise our voices, and make good trouble. And we can—and must—do it again.
This was never just about Kimmel. It was about the erosion of our freedom of press and freedom of speech. It was about defending our ability to speak out against corporate corruption. And it was about our ability to resist the authoritarian power grabs of this administration.
This was not the beginning of this fight, and it’s not the end.
We have to keep winning—our communities and the future of our country literally depend on it. Sign up for a No Kings Day event near you to show this administration just how united and powerful we are. There are events in every state, so there should be one near you—and if there isn’t, there’s still plenty of time to start and build your own!
Thanks for all you do.
–Kelsey, Justin, Aliya, Mona, Isbah, and the rest of the team
P.S. ABC and Disney heard us loud and clear—and they reversed course. Now it’s CBS and Paramount’s turn. Nearly 150,000 MoveOn members have signed the petition calling for CBS and Paramount to reverse their decision to cancel "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." We can use this momentum to tell CBS and Paramount: act now. Will you sign the petition?
