Over the past dozen days, our nation has witnessed a spiritual awakening.Â
Instead of looting businesses and burning cities, patriots across the country united after Charlie Kirk’s senseless assassination — holding prayer vigils and attending church in massive numbers. This past Sunday, thousands of Americans filled State Farm Stadium and millions more tuned in to watch a memorial service for Charlie, which featured scripture, worship music, and compelling speeches. Everyone from President Trump and Vice President Vance to Secretary of War Hegseth and Secretary of State Rubio delivered beautiful tributes honoring Charlie’s life and legacy.Â
I take comfort in knowing that during this remarkable event, Charlie was in the arms of our Lord and Savior — smiling down from Heaven as millions gathered to worship Jesus.
The most powerful moment came from Erika Kirk. During her impactful eulogy, she said, “My husband Charlie wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life…That young man, I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did and is what Charlie would do.”
What an unforgettable example of Christ’s love, grace, and forgiveness. God bless her.
Folks, it can be hard to be examples of Christ’s love and forgiveness in the midst of darkness. It’s much easier to choose anger and hate, especially given we’ve seen liberals throughout the country celebrate Charlie’s murder and attempt to justify his death.
The Left’s radical, violent rhetoric undeniably played a pivotal role in Charlie Kirk’s assassination. They have called Republicans “Nazis,” “fascists,” and “enemies of the state” who deserve to be “eliminated.” Troublingly, the Left’s heinous and inciteful words haven’t stopped after Charlie’s murder. In fact, numerous Democrat officials are doubling down after a deranged leftist murdered a Christian, father, and conservative icon in cold blood.
Just last week, 58 House Democrats voted against a resolution to condemn Charlie’s assassination, honor his legacy, and denounce political violence. Moreover, 38 voted “present” and 22 didn’t even bother to vote at all. Keep in mind, the House unanimously approved a similar resolution condemning the violent attacks on Minnesota state legislators this summer, including the horrific murder of Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark.
The chilling response to Charlie’s murder is why many felt President Trump’s words on Sunday when he said, “The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us.”
In response, we must condemn the Left’s violent rhetoric and evil intentions, and we must seek justice for Charlie. Yet we must also pray for the lost souls who are spewing hatred and working to tear our country apart.
That doesn’t mean we cower to darkness or unify with evil. Rather, it challenges us to be the light and defeat evil — a feat we can only accomplish through God.
As Erika said, “The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love and always love.”
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32
