It was a full week in Washington, as the House acted to keep the government open

while continuing to negotiate all 12 annual appropriations bills, and passed new legislation to strengthen American energy independence and support long-term economic growth.

On the economic front, I was honored to join the TECRO Taiwan Agricultural Trade Goodwill Mission Reception, where Taiwan committed to purchase $10 billion in U.S. agricultural products through 2028. This is a big win for American farmers and a major step in strengthening our partnership with one of our closest Indo-Pacific allies.

I also joined colleagues in honoring the life of Charlie Kirk and standing firmly against political violence.

Finally, thank you to everyone who joined last week’s Tele-Town Hall. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to hear directly from the people I serve.

For too long, Congress has relied on last-minute deals and bloated omnibus packages that ignore fiscal discipline and shortchange accountability. That’s why I’ve worked alongside my colleagues to help restore regular order by advancing all 12 of our FY26 funding bills through the Appropriations Committee and returning to a transparent budgeting process. As part of that effort, House Republicans passed a clean short-term funding bill to prevent a shutdown while we continue negotiating, but the Senate failed to act.

Still, we’re making real progress. The Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Legislative Branch Appropriations Acts are already in conference with the Senate. I’m honored to represent the House majority as a conferee and help lead negotiations to deliver a responsible, full-year budget that reflects the will of voters.

Thank you to everyone who joined our recent Tele-Town Hall and participated in the live poll. When asked about the new tax relief plan for working families, 62% said they believe these tax cuts will make a positive difference for their household. On the question of whether Congress should pass a short-term continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown while longer-term funding bills are negotiated, 41% said yes, 29% said no and 30% were unsure.
