John, every Tuesday and Thursday night, I spend just a little bit of my time to make a huge impact for democracy. I’m writing to ask if you’ll join me this week.
I’m a member of Common Cause’s Action Team because I believe that our country will make it through these difficult times – but only if millions of us come together, person-to-person, to unlock our collective power.
That’s only going to happen one conversation at a time. Together, we call our fellow Americans, ask them to join our effort, and patch them through to their representatives.
And because we target these calls to the places our campaigns team has identified lawmakers most in need of pressure, you can help move our work forward no matter where you live.
I have to confess, five or six years ago, you would not have found me even considering phone banking. I am hard core introverted, and I do not like phones.
But as I looked at what was happening to our country, I felt like I had to expand my ways to be engaged. I have been impressed by Common Cause for a long time, and when the call came to phone bank for Common Cause, I decided to give it my best shot.
I still don’t love phones, but I believe I can use them for good. And I love seeing you all come back week after week to make calls.
Your call can be the spark that gives someone hope and inspiration to take action. And your action can help write a new chapter of American history – where ordinary people achieve something absolutely extraordinary.
Common Cause’s work to defend and strengthen our democracy is powered by members like you.
