Friend,
Not a day goes by that I don’t reflect on the honor of having your trust to work in this place. For decades as your Meteorologist, looking out for families in bad weather. And now as a Representative of my home state and for my hometown.
But I’ll be honest: it’s not easy to work in this environment of hate and division that extremists promote, and reminding ourselves that the most engaged click-bait isn’t reality.
But what is real? Our Constitution.
I always keep a copy of it in my office when I’m in Washington, and it keeps me grounded, and hungry to serve you every day.
But it sure seems like a lot of people sworn to uphold it have no idea what’s in it!
So friend, I spent some time on the steps of the People’s House to read the Constitution out loud, in case some of my colleagues in need might pick up a thing or two.

I encourage you to watch along – with or without your own copies of the Constitution handy.
As long as I’m in Congress, I will always follow our most cherished founding document, even when it’s not “fun” or “easy.”
And I encourage you to take today to remind ourselves to always keep focus on the ones doing the work, not those yelling the loudest.
Together,
-Eric
