Trump’s DOJ is suing me.
Let me explain: President Donald Trump is demanding that state election offices turn over the protected data of all our registered voters, including names, addresses, birthdays, voting history, driver’s license numbers, and even Social Security numbers.
But it’s my job as Secretary of State to protect the rights and privacy of our voters — and I don’t trust what they’re going to do with that data! — so I said “no.”
Well, Trump didn’t like that, so now the U.S. Justice Department is suing me.
Here’s the thing, though: I took an oath to the people of Oregon — not Donald Trump.
That’s why I told the President that if he wants to use the DOJ to go after his political opponents and undermine our elections, then I look forward to seeing them in court.
This is going to put a target on my back, but I’m not standing down. Right now, more than ever, we need leaders to stand up to those who would strip us of our rights — even when it’s our own federal government. If you’re with me, will you split a donation between my campaign and the DLGA right now?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately and be split between the DLGA and Tobias Read.
