The jobs report for August came out earlier this month, and it shows that job creation in this country is falling fast. There were only 22,000 jobs created in the U.S. economy in August.
Compare that to a year ago, when there were 142,000 jobs created in August of 2024.

Economists projected about 75,000 jobs would be created in the month of August. 22,000 jobs created in the month of August are much lower than what even the economists had predicted.
The jobs report also shared a revision from the June and July reports. During that time, we actually experienced a 13,000 net job loss in our country.
Why is this happening? It is because the Trump administration's economic policies are failing. They are doing nothing to lower costs or help hardworking Americans across the country.

Last week, the Bureau of Labor Statistics came out with some job numbers: only 72,000 jobs were created last month. Right now, we are in the middle of the worst three-month job creation record since the end of the pandemic.
President Trump's economic policies are not working. Fewer jobs are being created, economic growth is slowing down, inflation is coming back, and the Trump tariffs on other countries are being passed onto the goods you buy every day at the stores you shop at.
The tariffs are taking a particular toll on us here in Northwest Washington, where the tariffs are impacting Canadian products, as well as a decrease in Canadian travel into the United States. We saw a 43% decrease in travel from Canada into Whatcom County and Skagit County. That means there are fewer people coming to our local stores, shopping, and attending local shows.
After the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the low numbers, President Trump fired the commissioner. This is unprecedented. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is the gold standard for measuring economic growth and job creation in this country.
Trump fired the commissioner because he did not like the numbers.
