CND at Labour Party Conference 2025
CND will be on the ground in Liverpool for Labour Party Conference to speak out against the government's plan to expand its nuclear weapons programme as well as its continued support for Israel's genocide in Gaza.
On Saturday 27 September, CND will be taking part in the Stop Starving Gaza national demonstration in Liverpool. Assemble from 12 noon on St. George's Plateau, Liverpool, L1 1LQ.
On Sunday 28 September, CND is organising an important fringe event at Labour Party Conference. Britain’s nuclear expansionism – Who pays the price?, calls for government spending that tackles real threats – poverty, inequality, and climate breakdown - not preparing for a war that could go nuclear. This meeting takes place outside the secure conference zone, so is open to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis.
Speakers include: Eddie Dempsey, RMT General Secretary; Asad Rehman, Chief Exec, Friends of the Earth; Bell Ribeiro-Addy, Labour MP and Vice-Chair of Parliamentary CND; John Foster, Advisor to the Alternative Defence Review; Dr Louise Amaritsu, Distinguished Policy Fellow, LSE; Jess Barnard, Labour NEC. Chaired by CND General Secretary Sophie Bolt.
CND is also sending vans with huge digital screens to the Conference, calling on the government to stop spending £205 billion on nuclear weapons and to invest this money on real human security concerns like climate change and child poverty instead. We’re aiming to get these vans parked outside the conference centre during the Prime Minister’s speech!
Through the support of our members and supporters, we’ve now raised £14,000 towards our target of £16,500 for the cost of these Advans. Please consider making a donation to help us pull this off! At the top of this email is the image that we’ll be using to deliver this powerful message.
