Hi friend,

This week, I stood alongside the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as well as Toledo city leaders to celebrate a new $13 million investment in our region’s water system. The $10 million grant from the Corps, made possible by my role as Ranking Member of the House Appropriations subcommittee on Energy and Water, is the largest in the history of the 594 program.

We all remember when harmful algal blooms rendered Northwest Ohio’s water undrinkable. This investment will ensure that we have a secondary source to prevent 500,000 Ohioans from losing access to our region’s most precious resource should another emergency occur.

Here’s what is coming:

💧 A new interconnect between Toledo’s planned 1-billion-gallon reservoir and the raw water mains that carry Lake Erie water to the Collins Park treatment plant.

🏘️ Reliable, safe drinking water for nearly half a million Ohioans.

🛠️ A federal partnership that covers 75% of the cost, because Washington should work for Northwest Ohio.

This isn’t something that happened years ago. It’s happening now, and our work continues. The agreement was signed just weeks ago, and construction is on the horizon. It’s a project that will protect our families, businesses, and neighborhoods for the next century.

I’ve spent my career fighting to bring federal resources back home, and I’m not slowing down. Whether it’s protecting Lake Erie’s Western Basin, upgrading critical infrastructure, or creating jobs right here in Ohio, I will keep delivering results for our district.
