John—
Last week, our Co-Founder & President, Amanda, shared a thought on social media that really struck a chord:
|
We have now seen over the last 10 months that the people ostensibly in charge — the leaders of civil society, the titans of industry, the richest CEOs, the university presidents and ballsy businessmen and U.S. Senators — are mostly a bunch of cowards.
They’re all bark, no bite. They’re paper tigers. When push comes to shove, when the bully shows up and threatens them, when their backs are against the wall — whatever metaphor you want to use, when Trump decides to go on offense, they nearly all fold.
They’re misreading the moment.
|
Amanda made the point: Our leaders are failing, so it’s time for us to be brave. That could mean deciding it’s time to run for office—or supporting someone else’s run. It could mean canceling a certain streaming subscription (👀) or reposting a video of someone telling an ICE agent to f**k off.
There are thousands of ways, big and small, to be brave in this moment. At Run for Something, we recruit, train, and support THOUSANDS of candidates who have the courage to stick up for their communities and be outspoken about their progressive values.
That’s what we’re built to do, and it’s why we need your support right now.
|
We’ve created a pipeline of 230,000 young, diverse progressives ready to lead locally and fight boldly to protect our freedoms. They’re focused on education, healthcare, housing, and the everyday freedoms that matter most to their communities.
We’re done looking up to titans of industry and D.C. politicians for moral leadership. It’s time to look inside our own communities and find the brave, bold leaders who just want to make life better for their neighbors.
Help us recruit and train those folks. Together, we’ll change the system by changing who’s in it.
|
With gratitude,
The Run for Something Team
|
We change the system by changing who’s in it. We start local, build the bench, and shape the future from the bottom up. Together, we’ve already helped win over 1,000 elections.
This work is made possible thanks to thousands of grassroots donors who give a little each month to fuel big change. Become a monthly donor today and help our candidates keep running — and winning.
