Trump makes unfounded claims about Tylenol, struggles mightily with the word "acetaminophen," repeats discredited link between vaccines and autism

Flanked by medical and moral malpractice misfits Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber, Donald Trump stood before the nation yesterday and blamed the rise in autism diagnoses in America on...Tylenol. Struggling mightily with the word "acetaminophen," it was obvious the wannabe dictator was reading his conspiratorial remarks out loud for the first time — with cameras rolling. Never mind the fact that autism was first identified in 1911 and Tylenol did not come on the market for another 44 years; the MAGA cult leader and his crack team of anti-science swindlers clearly had a message for the masses yesterday, and upheaval was the order of the day. "Don't take Tylenol," Trump said to pregnant women nearly a dozen times during the meandering news conference, adding that children should also avoid the reliably safe and effective over-the-counter pain reliever. Donald also fueled long-debunked claims that ingredients in life-saving vaccines or timing shots close together could contribute to rising rates of autism in the US, without providing any medical evidence, of course. Sure, it's funny to watch a self-described "very stable genius" struggle with the English language, and it's easy for some of us to shrug off snake oil salesmen hawking faux cures and pushing easily debunked conspiracy theories, but these men are exacting real harm on our communities, and people will needlessly suffer and die as a result. When this national nightmare finally ends, we must hold these morally reprehensible agents of chaos accountable.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Disney drops huge update on Jimmy Kimmel debacle

Well, now, that didn't take long. Having been hit with a deluge of customer cancelations since unceremoniously yanking Jimmy Kimmel off the air last Wednesday to appease Lord Goldemort, Disney issued a gobbledygook statement full of corporatespeak announcing the resumption of Jimmy Kimmel Live! starting this evening. Disney and ABC have been raked over the coals for days for their decision to leave Kimmel, who has successfully hosted his show for more than 21 years, twisting in the wind in a short-sighted effort to bow down to the notoriously thin-skinned MAGA cult leader. A viral movement to boycott the company and its products swiftly mobilized, and the suits flinched. Money talks, y'all.

Top scientist takes on the GOP's crusade of ignorance

Jasmine Clark for Georgia: Trump, RFK Jr., and MAGA cronies in Congress have taken a chainsaw to our scientific research, public health, and climate initatives and are waging an all out-war on science and the truth. PhD scientist Dr. Jasmine Clark has had enough, and she's running for Congress in order to restore sanity to the government and make America a global leader in scientific development once again. Will you chip in to help jump-start her campaign and flip the House blue?

Medical experts slam Trump claims about Tylenol, pregnancy, and autism
It probably goes without saying, but taking medical advice from an aggressively incurious, 79-year-old charlatan famously allergic to exercise and his batshit crazy HHS sidekick may be hazardous to your health. Trump effectively took a huge dump on the medical community yesterday, making outlandish claims about the cause of autism, and, well, the experts are now having their say. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists slammed the regime's new guidance as "irresponsible" and "unsettling." The American Academy of Pediatrics criticized Trump for peddling "dangerous claims and misleading information" about autism and vaccines. And the Autism Science Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded in 2009 and dedicated to supporting people with autism and their families by funding scientific research to understand the causes of autism and to develop better treatments, released their own statement saying they were deeply concerned with the White House's big announcement. Side note: Shares of Kenvue Inc., the manufacturer of Tylenol, fell 7.5% in trading Monday, reducing the company’s market value by about $2.6 billion. Something tells us a massive lawsuit against the Trump administration is just around the corner.

Trump signs order designating anti-fascist movement "antifa" a terrorist organization
First things first, a political philosophy is not an organization. Secondly, Donald Trump has officially declared himself to be anti-anti-fascism. Look, we're not saying he's not stupid, but the MAGA cult leader definitely just outed himself as an actual fascist. We don't make the rules, folks. Double negatives speak for themselves.

Trump’s Social Security overhaul accused of hurting the poor and disabled
You aren't going to believe this, but the Republican ignoramus-in-chief's boneheaded overhaul of the Social Security Administration is disproportionately affecting those already among the nation's most vulnerable. A new report, coming out next month and compiled by advocates at California State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and State University of New York, will show how a reduced workforce and updated phone systems have made things increasingly difficult for recipients of supplemental security income, which provides support to those on lower income or who are unable to work, to resolve issues with their payments. It’s estimated that out of the roughly 5 million people who receive these benefits each year, around 900,000 are intellectually disabled while another 800,000 are either autistic or have other developmental disorders. Another 350,000 have received an schizophrenia diagnosis. While advocates concede the SSA has improved over the past year in addressing a backlog of disability claims, the situation has nevertheless worsened for recipients who struggle with internet access or whose cases require in-depth attention. It's almost as if advocates and stakeholders on the ground were right to sound the alarm when Trump and his DOGE ding dong Elon Musk were ransacking the SSA this past spring.

This rollback could turn over 45 million acres of national forestlands to private logging companies

Earthjustice: National forests that are part of our public lands system are under attack by the Trump administration. For nearly 25 years, pristine forests in backcountry lands across the nation have been off limits to massive corporate logging operations, thanks to a Forest Service policy known as the Roadless Rule. These forests provide vital wildlife habitat; protect clean, mountain-fed drinking water for millions of Americans; and provide endless recreational opportunities like camping, hunting, fishing, rafting, and mountain biking. Join the fight to protect the forests that belong to all of us by keeping the Roadless Rule in place!

Dept. of Homeland Security says it will ignore California's ban on ICE agents wearing masks during immigration efforts
Remember, when Democrats conscientiously object to enforcing Republican-backed laws they deem harmful or against the public interest the GOP labels them lawless, godless radicals hellbent on destroying America. When Republicans are the ones doing the objecting, they are warriors fighting for the soul of the nation. Sounds about white.

Georgia senators demand answers on more than a dozen deaths in immigration detention
Georgia's Democratic senators are asking Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to provide more information on recent deaths in immigration detention centers, including the conditions of detainees. Since Donald Trump took office, 15 people have died in immigration detention, with 10 of those deaths occurring between January and June, Sens. Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock wrote in a letter shared exclusively with NPR. The senators say that is the highest rate in the first six months of any year publicly available. "Whatever our views on border enforcement, immigration enforcement, immigration policy, I think the overwhelming majority of the American people does not want detainees abused while they're in US custody," Ossoff told NPR in an interview.

"CEO whisperer" says US business leaders are privately anxious about democracy and state of economy under Trump
According to famed Yale business professor Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, the captains of American industry are freaking the fuck out — privately, of course — over Donald Trump's "chaotic" leadership and his "Maoist" (uh, okay) MAGA movement, which they have rightly concluded are hurting the US economy. In an op-ed for Fortune Magazine on Sunday, Sonnenfeld — known for his extensive contacts and regular closed-door summits with corporate bosses — said that CEOs at his latest get-together were "near unanimous" that the authoritarian president's policies are damaging their bottom line. Here's a novel idea: If you see something, fucking say something! Out loud! For the commonfolk to hear! Sure, Dear Leader has a big bark, but he can't bite everyone at once. What's that last line we all sing at big sporting events again? Something, something "home of the brave?"
