I am getting in touch one last time to remind you of our e ([link removed]) mergency relief appeal following the devastating series of earthquakes in Eastern Afghanistan ([link removed]) .

The UN estimates over 2,200 people have been killed — including hundreds of women and children — and over 5,000 homes were destroyed. But these figures are growing daily.

Womankind Worldwide is working closely with two women-led partner organisations — the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN) and the Kabul Orthopaedic Organization (KOO) — who are urgently responding to the crisis.

Afghan Women’s Network (AWN) — one of Afghanistan’s most trusted women-led civil society networks — was among the first on the ground. Within 48 hours, their field teams were assessing needs, delivering hygiene kits, and linking with women-led groups inside Afghanistan and across the diaspora.

The Kabul Orthopaedic Organization (KOO) has been conducting assessments on the ground and identified critical gaps that humanitarian agencies are not filling.

Together our partners are calling for support to meet urgent, life-saving needs such as:
* Tents and shelter materials so families are protected from the cold
* One-month food packages (rice, flour, pulses, oil, tea, etc.)
* Safe drinking water and portable latrines essential for preventing disease outbreak
* Clothing, undergarments, and footwear
* Basic kitchen sets (pots, dishes, cups, spoons)
* Carpets, mattresses, and pillows
* Mental health support and safe spaces for women and children

These may sound like simple requests, but for women and girls living in temporary shelters, these items mean protection from illness, dignity in daily life, and relief from the deep physical and emotional strain of displacement.

Please consider donating to our earthquake relief appeal so we can fund a women-led emergency response that reaches women and girls in difficult terrain. Women-led organisations must be involved in relief efforts to ensure that aid reaches women and girls in need.
