As Vice Chair of the Ruth’s List Florida Board, I want to share something that sets us apart: we don’t wait for candidates to come to us.
Every election cycle, we look at priority races and if we see one where there is no candidate representing our values, we get to work. We actively scour our network for women to run. Often these are women who might never have imagined themselves in office but who we know will be incredible leaders. Right now, we’re recruiting for hundreds of seats across Florida. And every year, women step up to run because Ruth’s List called them first.
We are the only Democratic organization in Florida overtly employing this strategy. That’s what makes us the most active Democratic recruiting organization in Florida — male- or female-led.
