Donald Trump is trying to turn the machinery of our government into a tool for his own authoritarian aims.
John,
The pattern is clear: Donald Trump is trying to turn the machinery of our government into a tool for his own authoritarian aims.
First, he pushed to drastically expand ICE in an attempt to build a deportation force that’s loyal to him personally. Then, he deployed the National Guard in Washington, D.C., and he continues to threaten more deployments in other cities across the country.
This isn’t about public safety. It’s authoritarianism. And we can’t stay silent while Trump tries to turn government soldiers and officers into his own personal army to crush dissent.
The good news is that all of us have the power to stand up and speak out. That’s why I’m organizing all over the country and working to ensure as many people as possible are trained in the nonviolent resistance tactics that have been most effective at stopping dictators around the world.
But building the movement we’ll need to defend our democracy takes resources, John. And unlike Donald Trump, I don’t have billionaires or corporate PACs funding my campaign. I’m counting on grassroots supporters like you.
Can I count on you to chip in $3 or whatever you can today to power our grassroots movement and build up nonviolent resistance across the country?
Contribute $3
Trump is betting that we’ll be too scared to speak out. But I’m betting that this country is stronger than that. I’m betting on the people — and when we organize together, people power always wins.
In solidarity,
Pramila Jayapal
