Trump and his allies are trying to rig our democracy by redrawing congressional maps in Texas to lock in their power. If they succeed, it could shape who controls Congress for the next decade.
We need to fight back at the state level. That’s why, in California, we’re supporting Prop 50. It could be a blueprint for other states too.
In short, Prop 50 is a statewide ballot measure that would allow Gov. Gavin Newsom to redraw California’s congressional districts. If successful, Democrats could gain five new seats in the House and nullify MAGA’s gerrymandering in Texas.
But this ballot measure can only succeed if the voters pass it on November 4th. And it’s on all of us to drum up support and spread the word — even from afar.
On Tuesday, September 23 at 9pm ET / 6pm PT, we are coming together online for a Yes on Prop 50 Virtual Rally. And we want EVERYONE to attend — because if Trump gets his way, we’ll need a lot more help to offset his rigging of Congressional maps.

At the virtual rally, you will hear from movement leaders including Congresswoman Lateefah Simon, Lorena Gonzalez (President of the California Labor Federation), Christina Livingston (ACCE Action Executive Director and CA WFP Chair), and Jane Kim (CA WFP State Director). The rally will be facilitated by Irene Kao (Executive Director of Courage California).
Prop 50 is California’s way of making sure our voices still matter in Washington. By adopting a stronger congressional map, we can push back against Trump’s rigged lines in Texas and defend fair representation for our communities. It's about protecting our democracy and making sure Californians cannot be silenced while Trump and his allies try to tip the scales.
This is more than a rally. It is about building the people power we need to win Prop 50, defending our democracy, and growing the Working Families Party all across the nation.
