John xxxxxx, the Ravens are taking the field for Monday Night Football, and the whole city feels electric.
I can smell the fresh-cut grass at M&T Bank Stadium. Thankfully, I’ll be there soon enough…
A lot of folks know me as a football guy. Maybe we could even coin the term ‘football governor.’ The funny thing is, I actually started my football career somewhat late in life.
I was at Johns Hopkins playing pickup basketball when a coach approached me and asked me to run a few routes. Within a week, I’d gone from point guard to wide receiver.
Something about being out on that field just clicked. I felt at home — surrounded by teammates, part of a brotherhood, all working toward something bigger than ourselves.
These days I watch (a lot) more football than I play, and today’s game is a perfect chance to get in the mix, cheer on the team alongside some fellow fans, and — while it might not sound that relaxing — decompress.
It’s been a whirlwind month: We officially launched our campaign for re-election. It’s been full of media hits, planning sessions, and meeting with folks across the state. Suffice it to say, I’m ready to watch the Ravens bring home a win.
Winning a campaign is actually a lot like winning a football game. You need a solid game plan — and the right team. We’ve definitely got the right playbook:
- We have amazing coaches (our campaign manager and all the great staff).
- We have the playbook (talking about our record and agenda).
- We have the shiny, new uniforms (I hear you can buy our new shirts online).
Now we need to build the right team. Before I head to M&T Bank Stadium, I’m asking you to join us. Your contribution powers the organizing, outreach, and momentum we need to execute our game plan and win for Maryland.
Thank you for everything these past few weeks — the love and support have been incredible. I appreciate each and every one of you.
Let’s go, Flock!
