Dear ,

We missed you at last week’s The People Say No: Resisting Data Centers in the South LIVE launch! We convened 250+ comrades on Zoom and across our social media channels to talk about how data centers harm Black, brown, and working class communities in the South. But don’t worry — we have key insights and resources for you below.

Our three takeaways:
  • Data centers are the most dangerous extraction scheme of our time, repeating a legacy of corporate welfare and industrial pollution against our people.
  • The South is becoming the epicenter of data center development because it’s the most oppressed and exploited region in the U.S., home of the majority of Black folks, and most reactionary politicians.
  • We have the power to fight back and shut down these data centers before they break ground in our communities, but only if we organize with our neighbors, stand in solidarity, and resist together.

Want to bring the data center fight to your community, but not sure where to start? We also launched our companion toolkit, our resource to build knowledge, power, and resistance for data centers. Whether you’re currently battling a data center project – or looking to create protective measures for your land, energy, and water – this toolkit is equipped with case studies, activities, and narrative support to strengthen your fight.
Strengthen Your Data Center Fight
Even if there is not an active data center project in your community, you can still organize to prevent them in the future. We hope you’ll join us in rejecting the AI hype and resisting the data centers.
